The first will I chose was that of Mrs Beatrice Stoughton, widow, who lived near East Pecham, Kent, England. Beatrice died in October of 1497, and left, among other things, some clothing and a belt. One bequest was to Margarette Debet, which stated:
“ To Margarette Debet a blacke gowne furred with blak lambe and a violette Kirtelle.”
The second was to Cicelle Skeme:
“......a redde harnessed girdelle with a dolphynne on the pendaunte”
Next, I chose the will of Mrs. Elyne Jakson, widow, who lived in Maydestone (Maidstone), England.
Elyne died in April of 1494, and left, among other things, a variety of clothing and headwear. One bequest was to the wife of a friend, which stated:
“ To the wyf of Harry Smyth my crimson curtell.”
The second was to her servant, Jouce of London:
“......my blake gown”
Goods recreated from the will of Elyne Jakson.
